VERGILIVS

Privacy Policy

Effective 4 July 2026. This policy is short because there is genuinely little to disclose. Virgil was built so that we cannot read your data.

What we collect

Nothing. Virgil has no accounts, no analytics, no crash telemetry, no advertising identifiers, and no servers that store your recordings, transcripts, or memory. The App Store privacy label reads Data Not Collected.

Where your words live

Recordings are transcribed on your device using Apple's on-device speech recognition. Transcripts, and the memory Virgil builds from them, are stored on your device. If you use more than one device, they sync through your own iCloud account under Apple's terms. We never see that data and could not decrypt it.

Calls

Virgil Calls connect device to device with end to end encryption (WebRTC). Our signaling relay routes call setup messages without reading their contents, and keeps no call history. When a direct connection is not possible, encrypted call traffic passes through a relay (TURN) that cannot decrypt it. To ring you when the app is closed, the relay holds one push token for your device: a random identifier issued by Apple, and the only thing we store. It identifies a device, not a person, and it is deleted when it stops working.

Recording consent

When anyone on a Virgil Call records, every participant is shown it. The call rings as a recorded call, and the gold flame burns while recording is live. You are responsible for following the recording consent laws where you are (see Terms).

If you choose a cloud AI

By default, asking Virgil questions uses Apple's on-device model. If you add your own API key for a cloud provider such as Anthropic or OpenAI, the content you ask about is sent to that provider, by your choice, under that provider's privacy terms. Your key is stored in your device's Keychain and is never sent to us.

Invite links

An invite link contains only the name and call identifier you chose to share, and travels by whatever channel you send it through.

Deleting everything

Settings, then Your data, then Delete everything removes all recordings and memory from your device and from anything connected to it. Since we hold no copy, there is nothing further to ask us to delete, except the push token, which vanishes when you delete the app.
